Voting Reports

LGIM have decided to comply with the new guidance from the ISC by publishing on our website the voting decisions for UK shares.

LGIM have also complied with ISC’s Statement of Principles on the Responsibilities of Institutional Shareholders and Agents published in 2002. This included disclosing voting decisions to institutional clients.

A majority of our largest clients have expressed a preference that we should not disclose voting decisions for their funds. LGIM agrees that it should be the beneficial owner of the assets who decides what information to disclose rather than the institutional fund manager.

LGIM will disclose the voting instructions for the funds managed on behalf of Legal & General Assurance Society each quarter. This is representative of LGIM’s decisions for clients who allow us discretion to vote on their behalf. This procedure will be reviewed following a year of operation.

The assumed benefit that there will be an improved investment performance by UK companies due to the public disclosure of votes is unrealistic in our judgement.
