LEGAL & GENERAL PROPERTY HISTORY
Balanced Funds
One of the earliest of these funds was the Managed Fund, which provides UK pension schemes with a means to invest in a diversified portfolio on a pooled basis. Unit linked life and pensions funds for individual investors were launched in the late 1970's. These are still available today and are among the biggest funds of their type. More recently, in 2006, Legal & General launched the Legal & General UK Property Unit Trust. This is an authorised property unit trust specifically designed for the small investor looking to obtain diversified exposure to the UK commercial property market.
"one of the longest standing and largest Institutional Property Investment Managers in the UK."
The Legal & General Life Fund remains one of the largest of it’s type in the UK, with our segregated fund services continuing to provide bespoke solutions to meet individual clients property risk and return requirements.
Sector Specialists
We also have a long history in the specialist arena. In 1997 we launched the Industrial Property Investment Fund (IPIF), which was one of the first sector specialist funds for institutional investors. Such funds have since become an increasingly important part of the market. LGP has remained in the vanguard of this trend and now operates 10 specialist funds for institutional investors as well as the latest fund, Spectrum UK, a fund of funds investing in sector specialist vehicles.
